We are speaking with a leader
Beit Shalom Ministries Dr.Alan Poyner-Levison
- Dear Dr. Alan, there are many Christian
commentaries to New Testament. Please explain our readers what is Jewish
Messianic understanding of Brit Hadasha (New Testament) in detail?
- The Messianic movement is a return to the fundamental position of the
church, since it has gone through some tremendous changes since the death of
the Apostles. The directives and heritage that was left by the Holy Apostles
has been over run by traditions that are not Biblical and have become lost
in human churchianity. So it is imperitivie to learn to understand the Holy
Sriptures from their Jewish perspectives. It is a rabbinical saying that
"You don't know where to go, until you see where you have been"
and so learning the Jewish understanding of the scriptures gives us a better
and clearer view of what was first taught by Paul,Peter, and James so that
we can give the next generation a totally undiluted picture of how to carry
the directives forward. In truth the Brit Hadashah is a Jewish
Covenant as stated in Jeremiah 31:31, Ezekiel 36:24-30, the Apostles
were Jewish, and they served a Jewish Messiah. So the question we need to
ask is, if the Gentiles were grafted in according to Romans 11:17 what were
they grafted into? The answer is Israel!
God's people have not been discarded in order to present the church as the
New Israel, The Gentiles were grafted into Israel not the other way around.
So if the church is the 'one new man' as stated in Eph 2:15 and the Jews are not
apart of that church is it really the church? This is the question that
every believer needs to ask themselves. God has not done away with His
ancient people, rather He has enlarged them by the grafting in of the
Gentiles as was prophetically indicated (Isaiah 42:1, 56:3-8, 61:8-10).
Yeshua did not come to bring endless denominational structures ,He came to
bring the way to Life!! If He had wanted denominations He would have revived
the twelve tribes, but He didn't He was contented with what He had started
with Israel! <...> Christianity is
Jewish!
- Please tell us about your ministry and yourself a
little.
I have been a Jewish Believer of more than 30 years and live in Manchester

Beit Shalom Ministries is a series of prayer groups all over the UK which I
in frequently attend for prayer and Bible study. Īnce a year we have our
Beit Shalom Conference which has been a great blessing for the last three
years. I have quite a large data base of people from all over the world that
get my Beit Shalom News items from Israel and around the Messianic Movement.
