Jacob Damkani: "We need to bring them Yeshua in His Jewish context and explain them His Jewish Gospel in a Jewish way."

Our guest is Jacob Damkani, director of Trumpet of Salvation ministry (Israel) (www.trumpetofsalvation.com)

Dear Jacob, is it difficult to share the Good News in Israel now?
- No, it's not difficult: we believe in the almighty God of Israel. He called us into His service and He also helps us to do it. He just needs willing vessels, all the rest He is doing.

No: because God is preparing the platform for us to minister to His chosen people - with the Gospel. They start searching, they want to get to know their God - apart from religion, which is so often far from the truth.

And yes, it is, sometimes. In Israel you find quite some resistance against the Gospel. The church didn't bring glory to God and did not paint the right picture of Yeshua haMashiach  (Jesus Christ). So when the Israelis think about Jesus, they think of Crusaders and the Inquisition. We need to bring them Yeshua in His Jewish context and explain them His Jewish Gospel in a Jewish way. In a way it's more difficult for us today than it was for Peter, Paul... as we have the load of church history on our shoulders too.

How many Jews believing in Yeshua are in Israel now?
- There are different numbers that people guess. We cannot know exactly but there are between 7000 and 8000  believers in Israel today and we have at least 80 congregations all over the country

What is your opinion: what can we do more Jews would to hear the Good News?
- We need to pray for them first of all, that they might find the Way, the Truth and the Life, our Lord Yeshua.

Then we need to be open when God sends us Jews our way and share the Gospel with them - in a Jewish way. The Christians changed so many things in the faith that was originally so Jewish, that Jews often have hard time to understand their own Gospel.

So, believers from the nations have to go back to the roots of their faith. When they understand them, they will be able to explain the Gospel to the Jews in the right way.

We train believers from the nations in evangelism. Everybody who feels called from the Lord should contact us for more details.

Do your ministry help to poor Jews in Israel, in the countries of former USSR etc. ?
- Yes, we do, but that's not the main focus of our ministry.
