HALLEL (Matt. 26:30)

30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. (Matt. 26:30)

What hymn sang Yeshua and His talmidim?

They would sing one of hymns Hallel. There are Full Hallel and the Great Hallel.

Full Hallel

"Full Hallel (or הלל שלם Hallel Shalem in Hebrew Complete Hallel) consists of all six Psalms of the Hallel, in their entirety. It is a Jewish prayer recited on all seven days of Sukkot, on Shmini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, on Shavuot, on the first two days of Pesach (only the first day in Israel), and on the eight days of Hanukkah.

Full Hallel consists of: Psalm 113, Psalm 114, Psalm 115:1-11,12-18, Psalm 116:1-11,12-19, Psalm 117, Psalm 118."

The Great Hallel

"Psalm 136 is sometimes called the "Great Hallel", as it reprises the refrain of Ps. 118 "Hodu l'Adonai ki tov, ki le'olam hasdo" (Thank the Lord for he is good, for his mercy endures forever)."

" 'The Great Hallel' Psalm 136 was most probably used antiphonally in Temple worship. In Jewish liturgy, the Great Hallel is recited at the Passover meal after the Lesser Hallel. All through the refrain is a repeated reference to the Lord's steadfast love. See Hosea 2:19. This psalm is a hymn that opens with a call to praise God because of God's great deeds in nature and his gracious historical actions in the history of Israel. It continues expressing God's mercy toward all and ends with another call to praise God. <reference Ryrie Study Bible page 955>" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallel)

"It is presumed that these several collections were made at times of high religious life: the first, probably, near the close of David's life; the second in the days of Solomon in singing at the dedication of the Temple (2 Chron. 7:3-6); third, the armies of Jehoshaphat sang themselves into victory with this song in the wilderness of Tekoa (2 Chron. 20:19,21);  the fourth by the men of Hezekiah (2 Chron. 29,30,31); and the fifth in the days of Ezra (Ezra 3:11 - V.N.)." (http://www.bibleinsong.com/Song_Pages/Psalms/Psalm136/Psalm136.htm)
