Righteousness of Hezekiah
"And Asa did [that which was] right in the eyes of the LORD, as [did] David his father. And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from [being] queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt [it] by the brook Kidron. But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days." (1Kings 15:11-14)
"And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. Jehoshaphat [was] thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing [that which was] right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; [for] the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places." (1Kings 22:41-43)
We read Asa and Jehoshaphat fought against idolatry. Now let us read about Hezekiah.
"And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moshe (Moses) had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor [any] that were before him." (2Kings 18:3-5)
As well as we see not only Hezekiah fought against idolatry. But he only removed the high places. Hezekiah only had completed this fight!
Messiah Yeshua had this trait - to complete all.
G-d wants we believers in Yeshua Messiah would fulfil mitzvot (the commandments) of Hashem, would be zealous, would have a patience etc. to the end.
Psalms 119:112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, [even unto] the end.
Matt 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Heb 3:6 But Messiah (Christ) as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
Heb 3:14 For we are made partakers of Messiah (Christ), if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
Heb 6:11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the
end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a
potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
Rev 2:28 And I will give him the morning star.
Thank God always!
Let us read these lines:
2Chr 32:24 In those days Hezekiah was
sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and He spake unto him, and He gave
him a sign.
2Chr 32:25 But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit [done] unto
him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon
Judah and Jerusalem.
Often people pray but then they forget
to thank G-d. What is a cause? It is the pride.
Dear friends! THANK G-D ALWAYS IN YESHUA NAME!
What did Hezekiah did then?
2Chr 32:26 Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled
himself for the pride of his heart, [both] he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
G-d
loves humility!
2Chr 32:27 And
Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries
for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for
shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
2Chr 32:28 Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and
stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
2Chr 32:29 Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds
in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
2Chr 32:30 This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and
brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah
prospered in all his works.
12 At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of
Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that
Hezekiah had been sick.
13 And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his
precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious
ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his
treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that
Hezekiah shewed them not.
14 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What
said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They
are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
15 And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All
the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my
treasures that I have not shewed them.
16 And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
17 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy
fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon:
nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
18 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall
they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
(2 Kings 20:12-18)
19 Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast
spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days? (2 Kings
20:19)
