“… My mother and my
brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.” (Luke 8)
19 Then came to Him His mother
and His brethren, and could not come at Him for the press.
20 And it was told Him by certain which said, Thy mother and Thy brethren stand
without, desiring to see thee.
21 And He answered and said unto them, My mother and My brethren are these
which hear the word of God, and do it. (Luke 8:19-21)
The spiritual
affinity is more than physical one. It is important to hear the word of Hashem
and do it!
There is one
interesting parallel in 1 Chr. 28 and in Talmud:
"Then David the
king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my
people..." (1 Chr. 28:2)
"If [he called them] 'my brethren' why 'my people', and vice versa? — R.
Eleazar said: David told the Israelites, If you listen to me, you are my
brethren; if not, you are my people and I will rule you with a rod."
