-Interview-
"... all Israel shall be
saved..."
Our guest is pastor of Messianic congregation in Israel
"Light
of Life" Samuel Likhtman (the congregation has web-site in Russian: http://www.lightoflife.co.il/ ).
There are these lines in Brit Hadasha (the New
Testament):
"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be
ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that
blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be
come in. And so all Israel shall be saved..." Romans 11:25,
26
How do you understand them?
- I'd like to continue to quote these lines to 27
verse:
"as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and
shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
For this is my covenant
unto them, when I shall take away their sins. " Romans 11:26,
27
God
have made with Jewish people the New Testament about which prophets spoke in Tanakh. Continuing Abraham's testament the New Testament
is testament of the grace, that is absolute which is based in Divine nature
completely. The beginning of action of the New Testament for Israel as all people is possible when nation will accept it.
As far as we know Jewish people don't accept Yeshua by nation to
now. At present we speak about individual entrance of Jews as well as Gentiles in the
testament through Yeshua. Confirming the invariability of the way to Father through
Son rabbi Shaul (apostle Paul) speaks here about the time when Israel will
accept Yeshua by nation.
Time of deep sorrow will open the sin of the lack of faith in
expiatory sacrifice of Messiah to Israel completely. The repentance of
Israel will become by national entrance in the Testament, and it will be by time of
the Second Coming. Messiah will come because of "all Israel" (by nation) will repent... And some more: "all Israel" is of course such Israel which have
accepted and will accept Yeshua Messiah as his Saviour.
What is the situation in Israel at present? Is
there the worry of people because of permanent acts of
terrorism?
- Israel is in the martial law
from the time of proclamation of its independence in 1948. A few
generations have grown up for this time in the conditions of constant risk of one's life originated from the
enemies of Israel. If for some time it become more peacefully than
before, and the acts of terrorism happen more rarely than before this don't
means that the atmosphere of the spite which is up around our
country become less. Israeli people get used to such situation, they live
many time so, and these conditions harden people some more.
What are the Israeli Arabs' view to acts of
terrorism?
- Differently. I think there are people who gloat on
the occasion of destruction of Jews. There are people who are indiffirent
to it. There are people too who blame these actions sharply.
Often I read about Christian-Zionists. How do they support
Israel?
- First of all this is
good evidence about right biblical teaching. Love of Christians to God of
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob cannot don't spread to Jewish people too. The big faith of Christian-Gentiles in stability of the God's promises to
Jewish people is an exposure for many contemporary Israeli politicians who deal shamelessly in
that doesn't belong to them. I know the generous
financial help comes too from Christian-Zionists to Israel .
Tell me please, Samuel, how many Messianic
Jews, Christians live in Israel now?
- Every year in Israel statistics are published about structure of
the population to the confessions. I think one can find
it in Israeli web-sites. To tell the truth this statistics interest us not very
much. The main is that now tens of meetings work fruitfully in Israel
preaching the Good News. Glory to God fot this!
How many Palestinian Christians are in Israel? Have
you some contacts with them?
- I haven't no statistics. I know there are they. But I am not acquainted
with no one.
And the last question. What is your point of view:
why Christians must know about Jewish roots of Christian faith?
- There is no some special "Christian faith" . There is Christianity
- faith in God Father-Son-Holy Spirit based in Complete Jewish Scriptures
- Bible, and there are people who confess it. But there are people who call themselves Christians and never didn't
open Bible in order to read it. If they have done this question wouldn't came up about Jewish
roots.
