-Interview-
Stan Goodenough: "
... Israel is - the land, the people, the history, and the fulfillment of
prophecy that is taking place in God's Holy land right before our eyes.
"
Dear Stan, please tell us how did you get an
idea to open Israel My Beloved?-
- I was working as the managing editor
of a site built especially to communicate information about Israel to the
evangelical Christian world. That site was owned by an Israeli hi-tech company,
but after the Nasdaq crash in the late 1990s the company was closed
down. I really wanted to be able to carry on with the work that site had
begin, and so prayerfully commissioned a graphics designer to build Israel My
Beloved for me.
What the main aim of your
web-site?
- Like the other site, it's target audience is primarily
evangelical Christians, and its purpose is to educate them about what Israel is
- the land, the people, the history, and the fulfillment of prophecy that is
taking place in God's Holy land right before our eyes.
How many Christians who support Israel are in
the world at present?
- No one knows
for sure of course, but rough estimates put the total Christian population
of our world today at 2 billion, of which something like 600 million are
evangelical. I would guesstimate that perhaps around 75 percent of these
are pro-Israel.
Please tell us about yourself and your
family a little. In what country do you live?
- I am a South
African Christian with a newspaper journalism background who has lived and
worked in Israel for the past 15 years. Eleven years ago I met and married
Franceska, a Czech girl, also a Christian, who had come to Israel from
Prague, she thought for only 4 months. We have five children, all born
here. Four boys and one girl - aged from 9 years to 1 month. Our
three oldest children go to an Israeli state school. They all speak, read
and write in English, Hebrew and Czech. In May this year we are going to the
United States to travel for a year, speaking in churches across that land about
God's purposes for Israel as we understand them, and our experiences living as a
Christian family in Jerusalem in these difficult
days.
