EMUNAH (THE FAITH)
Faith in Hebrew is emunah. Emunah
is faithfulness, confidence. Do you remember these lines about
Abraham:
Gen 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted
it to him for righteousness.
God gave mitzvah Shema to Jewish
people:
Deut 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:
Deut 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Habakkuk said:
Hab 2:4 Behold, his soul [which] is lifted up is not
upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
In Brit Hadasha we can read about faith more:
Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped
for, the evidence of things not seen. (Pistis is the Greek word for "faith". It translates as fidelity, faithfulness, assurance too.)
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst
believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth.
Faith is the fruit of the Spirit:
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness,
temperance: against such there is no law.
Faith is the gift of the Spirit too:
1Cor 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit;
to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
