THE RESURRECTIONS
IN BIBLE
"Yeshua
said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me,
though he were dead, yet shall he live:" (John 11:25)
The resurrections in Gospels
- The resurrection of son of a widow from Nain:
11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and
many of his disciples went with him, and much people.
12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man
carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people
of the city was with her.
13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep
not.
14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he
said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his
mother.
16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great
prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all
the region round about. (Luke 7:11-17)
- The resurrection of daughter of Yair, the ruler of synagogue:
49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's
house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
50 But when Yeshua heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only,
and she shall be made whole.
51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter,
and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but
sleepeth.
53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid,
arise.
55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to
give her meat. (Luke 8:49-55)
- The resurrection of Elazar:
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Elazar (Lazarus),
come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and
his face was bound about with a napkin. Yeshua saith unto them, Loose him, and
let him go.
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Miriam (Mary), and had seen the things
which Yeshua did, believed on him. (John 11:43-45)
Name
"Elazar" (Lazarus) means "God has helped".
The
resurrections in Tanach
- Eliyahu raised the son of a widow of Tzarfat (Zarephath):
17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the
mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was
no breath left in him.
18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God?
art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and
carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
20 And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought
evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the
LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him
again.
22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into
him again, and he revived.
23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the
house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.
24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God,
and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth. (1 Kings 17:17-24)
- Elisha raised the son of Shunammite:
32 And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and
laid upon his bed.
33 He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the
LORD.
34 And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth,
and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and stretched himself
upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.
35 Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and
stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child
opened his eyes.
36 And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And
when she was come in unto him, he said, Take up thy son.
37 Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and
took up her son, and went out. (2 Kings 4:32-34)
- The resurrection of the bones of Elisha:
20 And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded
the land at the coming in of the year.
21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a
band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the
man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on
his feet. (2 Kings 13:20-21)
IN GOSPELS WE READ ABOUT THREE MIRACLES OF THE RESURRECTION (BEFORE THE RESURRECTION OF YESHUA) AS WELL AS IN TANACH. BOTH IN GOSPELS AND IN TANACH ONE OF THE RESURRECTED PERSONS IS SON OF A WIDOW. THESE PARALLES SHOW US CONNECTION BETWEEN GOSPELS AND TANACH.
After the resurrection of Yeshua many bodies of the saints were raised:
|
50 |
Yeshua, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded
up the ghost. |
|
51 |
And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from
the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; |
|
52 |
And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints
which slept arose, |
|
53 |
And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and
went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. (Matt. 27:50-53) |
YESHUA IS MESSIAH OF ISRAEL! HE
WAS RISEN ON THIRD DAY. HE IS FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD, FIRSTFRUITS OF THEM WHO
SLEPT.
